Spinal problems and back pain are the most common complaints around the world; research into this problem is ongoing but so far only short term back relief remedies are available. While there are a host of prescription medications that help with pain relief, many are doing nothing more than masking the symptoms instead of tackling the underlying cause of the pain. Medication should be used sparingly and under the strict supervision of a medical professional.

The problem with the back is although it is strong, at the same time it is easily damaged; it is not uncommon for a person to cause permanent damage from just lifting something incorrectly. However, back pain is usually caused by a lifting accident or from lifting incorrectly and it is normally the lower back that suffers. There are a number of natural back pain relief methods that mean you will not have to rely on drugs.

Stretching can be effective at reducing back as it relaxes the muscles which are often tense. Massaging the feet in certain areas (reflexology) can bring relief in a number of conditions; it is a very old natural therapy which helps to relieve many chronic ailments in addition to back pain. Another benefit to reflexology is how it can improve the circulation which helps to ease tense muscles.

The traditional Chinese medicine therapy acupuncture is now providing back pain relief with people suffering spinal problems in the West. The Chinese believe we all have this special energy force flowing through us and when we become sick it doesn’t flow correctly. Chi is blocked in a sick body but needles inserted into specific points, ease many types of pain and the flow of energy. There are large numbers of people that use acupuncture on a regular basis and claim it works well for them providing pain relief; especially those who have what is termed a chronic condition.

Tai Chi is also another ancient Chinese discipline which is basically a type of exercise similar to yoga except it is slower. This method uses breathing control as the main source of relief with some stretching involved. It is so easy to learn by the young and old alike. Regular exercise is also one of the best preventative medicines available and can help with back pain relief; by exercising regularly there is less chance of a back pain attack.
